It sounds like there is a local or group policy blocking it, which is good.
If there is a group policy blocking the use of pen drives on the domain, there are a lot of people who would want to know about it because pen drives on a network is a security risk.
If you find it, post it.

A group policy would be on the server & a local policy on a workstation. Does the same thing happen on all workstations?

Click start, run, type gpedit.msc & press enter, go to administrator templates. Look for a folder that says restrict drives. Do that on the server & the workstations.

As Replied by the earlier user Click start, run, type gpedit.msc & press enter, go to administrator templates. Then look for system and on the right pane u can see the restriction which u can confiure, enable or diable it. If it is related to a particular pc then u can look into the bios of the system from where u can also enable the usb.
