What is the connection of Active Directory and DNS on Windows 2003 server?
We need to upgrade our NT domain to Windows 2003 server but I am not comfortable with Active Directory and DNS, which is a requirement if I have to setup Windows 2003 server. I am afraid to make mistake in configuring DNS to setup Active Directory. We already have four DNS servers in the company to this point. These DNS are the master DNS in the whole organization. Every computer in the organization is using these master DNS if they are connecting to the internet. I’m not sure if I need to use the DNS server that we already have or do I need to create a new DNS service when I setup Active Directory, and setup the Windows 2003 server as another DNS server on the organization. Our organization is consist of 10 domain and I don't want to be focal point for DNS service. Can anyone please point me to the right direction?

You need to create a Ms DNS server. You forward from it to your master dns server. Only AD clients would use the ms dns server. should consider dhcp so you dynamically update ms dns.
If you have 10 domains perhaps someone needs to reconsider the forest design.
