What i'm trying to achieve is simply to access a shared folder on a Windows Server 2003 sp1. I know that Win Xp home cannot Join a windows domain but it can be setup so that file sharing on the Server can be allowed. I've changed the XPhome workgroup name to the same as the server domain name - I've also created a user in Active Directory with the same UN/PW as the XP home Pc. The XP home Pc can ping the server and also see the server icon in my network places, but when trying to access brings a error (Server is not accessible. you may not have permission to use this network. Routing and remote access is setup on hte server if that helps - thought that it may be a firewall issue (don't know) Help please

Try and map the shared folder to a drive using right click on network neighborhood. Connect as "different user name" and password that has permission on the 2003 server. Use IP address not netbios name. The workgroup doesn't matter. There are plenty of other ways.

I tried to map a network drive as advised above but that does not work - also using the I.P address of teh server didn't do any different. It's bugging me real bad All the other XP pro computers can connect no prob and they are not domain users, so Its the XP home PC's playing silly buggers.
Thanks for any more ideas
