Hi,
I'm fairly new to Windows Server 2003, so don't really know what I'm doing!I want to set up a ftp server that can be accessed from either a web browser or something like Win SCP.
I've successfully set up the FTP server, but at the moment I can only access it by entering the IP address of the server e.g. ftp://x.x.x.xI want to make it a little easier (and professional) and make it so you can access it through a normal domain name rather than an IP address. My company owns several domain names for it's webpages, so it would be great if I could use this. How do I go about doing this?
thanks
Paul

Apparently, those domain names aren't hosted on the 2003 server, which is why only the IP address works. Who is going to have access to the server?
How do you know when a politician is lying? His mouth is moving.

I'm the administrator and the only other people to use it will be
my colleges and a few clients. We just want an easier (and
more professional) way to transfer large file than yousendit.
The Ftp server isn't going to get very heavy usage. It's
working fine, it'd just look more professional if I could give
clients a weblink that was more memorable than an ip
address!
Thanks
Paul

Have you registered the Public IP with the Domain name with your ISP or a DNS authority like you did with your Web Servers?
Also, I hope you are using FTPS and not just FTP or you are going to get hacked.
