Hey guys-

I have a customer that has a 2003 server. They have a program installed on this server that can only be run from the administrator account. They only have 2 employees. The problem I am having is that both need to be logged in at the same time useing remote desktop on a local LAN. When the second person tries to connect they get a too many users for that account message. If I log in to the server from a remote location a second person is able to log on as administrator just fine.

What is stoping them from loggin in 2 times localy? How can I fix this? Do I need a CAL license?

Thanks in advance

Will

"Terminal Services is now an integral, default component of the Windows Server 2003 family, and Remote Desktop has been improved and positioned as an out-of-the-box capability, so that with one click, a Windows Server 2003 computer will allow two concurrent connections for remote administration. By adding the Terminal Server component and configuring appropriate licensing, an administrator can further extend the technologies to allow multiple users to run applications on the serve"

From 70-290 MS press.

So, there is something wrong. Open taskman and see users or have them do that.

As a side note, this is really a bad way to do stuff.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

Does the user need to be logged in as "Administrator" or just with an account with Administrative privileges?

VERY poorly designed program if it's the former.

Locally means you are sitting at the servers keyboard. You can't have two people logon, like this, to any system.

You should be able to have both users using different accounts rdp to the server. Or one at the server and one rdp'ed.

Example of Oxymoron:
Person who is pro life and anti sex education.
Education is key to prevention. Prevent conception you prevent abortion. Abstinence training clearly isn't working.
