Just wondering what the best way is for me to defrag our server if I do not buy any 3rd party utility. In the past, I have booted it up in safe mode and run the microsoft disk defrag utility that comes with windows. Is that sufficient? I don't know if it defrags the exchange database, etc. TIA

I don't use safe mode. Not sure it was ever posted on the microsoft site as a proper solution.

If the data base you mean file then yes. If you mean clean out database as in database maintenance then no.

I read it wrong and answer it wrong too. So get off my case you peanut.

Thanks, I didn't realize that Exchange handles it's own database defrag schedule. I guess I'll just start the defrag operation on the server C: drive and let it do it's thing.
