Hi all,

I have a registry file which runs at login for users in a specific group. The file changes the IE homepage to a specific site. Recently when the users log on, they receive the following error:
'Error importing \server\path\file.reg The specified file is not a registry script. You can only import registry files.'
This is strange as it's just happened for no apparent reason as no changes have been made to the server or file.

Thanks in advance,

Nicola

Have you tried re-exporting the key/value and creating another reg file?

Thanks for your response. Sorry, I should have said before. I am a complete novice when it comes to editing the registry, which is how I know nothing has changed as I don't go anywhere near it!

If you could guide me through the process of what you're suggesting?

Thanks again,

Nicola

I'm assuming you created the file for the users to run. My suggestion was just to recreate the file. There are also other ways to change a default homepage, especially if you're running Server with AD.

Thanks again.

Recreating the file didn't make any difference, and yes, we're using Active Directory, so I will look into doing it that way.

Thanks,

Nicola

You could just setup group policy that sets the defined home page for everyone when they login (much easier)
