Here is the problem. I downgraded from XP to win 2k and in the process all the drivers for the video adapter and sound card were lost. How do I find out what kind of video adapter and sound card are installed. The device manager does not recognize them. It has a question mark next to them.

you can try reseating the cards, if they are plug & play windows might recognize them, or while you have the computer open, look at the cards and get the manufactures info, then go the the website and download the drivers.
hope this helps.

Thanks for your suggestions. Ultimately, I solved it through DELL's support site. It has something called a "system profiler" which profiles your system for you. I got the details of the adapter and sound card from there, went to the respective web sites and downloaded the drivers. Now they work fine. Thanks, once again.
