Been having a problem recently with a game called Max Payne if any of you have heard of it, and i'm sure its wowexec that is causing it. I can play the first level with no probs at all, but then i tries to load the second - it gets about 2 seconds into loading, then it just exits to desktop - and in the task manager wowexec.exe has appeared (which was most definately NOT there before). Tried absolutely everything i can think of but i'm not really a cumputer whiz. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

wowexec is used by the system when it needs to run software designed for earlier versions of windows.

opens up seperate part of memory for the program to run.

Yes, wowexec is the 16 bit driver for old programs, usually dos based programs but not always. wow (windows on windows) then helps that application think it is the only thing running. wowexec is not your problem, but it may be indicating what the problem is. I've run Max Payne in w2k without a problem so you may want to look at video drivers, reinstalling the game, or going to the vendor web site to look for patches or upgrades.

I've recently had this new hardware installed :
GeForce 3 Ti200 128MB
256MB RD RAM
New Motherboard

Additionally i have formatted my computer and reinstalled WIN2k. This new harware should be compatible with Max Payne should it not?
