Word 2000 vs NTFS permissions

Hi. When you protect a document within Microsoft Word 2000 to make it read-only, will this be more powerful than NTFS permissions? i.e. if I create a document in folder "A" and make the document read-only will anyone with administrator rights to folder "A" be able to go in and modify the document? Or will the permissions set in Word 2000 overcome the NTFS permissions? Thanks.

Administrators will not be able to change the document since it is read only, however since they are administrators they could change the document from read-only to archive and do whatever they want with it. If you are worried about the admins messing with your stuff try encrypting the document. Right click on the document and go to properties. Select the advanced button and check the encrypt document box. Then only you and the designated recovery agent of the domain will be able to decrypt the file. I doubt that anyone would go through that trouble to read a word document, because it is kind a pain in the arse to do...

yeah, admins can always take over your files; they can take the permission and do what they want, but like mr white folks said "who would want to do that, thats a waste of time?"
