My computer won't boot up after it has been shut down. It came all the way to the Windows 2000 logo screen and then all of the sudden the blue screen pops up. It says: ***STOP: 0x000000050 (0x8006F000, 0x0000000, 0x804367FD, 0x0000000) ***Address 8006F000 base at 80062000, DateStamp 3946db7a-hal.dll ***Address 804367FD base at 80400000, DateStamp 39760637-ntoskrnl.exe. I have 1200 mhz AMD with 512 meg of RAM and Fire GL2 64 meg of RAM. My motherboard is GA-7ZX with VIA KT133 Chipset. But when I press the reset button, it boots up normal. Any suggestions?

Did you check to see if all your hardware is listed on the HAL list? Have you pulled out any ram to see if it will boot ok? Start there.

I am sorry I don't understand what you mean by HAL list. What is it? Also I only have one RAM in the slot. If I take that one out, it will not even do anything...

The HAL is the Hardware Abstraction Layer. You must go to Microsoft's Win2k upgrade site and check their database to make sure your computer's hardware and BIOS is supported. The URL is http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/upgrade/default.asp. Additionally, you should check your computer vendor's website to for more detailed info about flashing the BIOS (if this turns out to be necessary first before installing Windows 2000).
