Winxp on a 2000 machine

Hi there, My machine runs win2k, I got XP and installed it and it's working fine. The problem is that it loaded itself onto my D: not my C: as intended. The question I wanted to ask is, can I simply cut and paste the Windows, doc's and settings and program files of XP on the D: to a windows_XP folder on the C: would this be safe or should I reinstall?
