CPU/Ram: amd1700+ /256

I amd getting the following error emssage on startup:
"windows 2000 could not start because the folllowing file is missing or corrupt:
\winnt\system32\drivers\pci.sys "

what do i do ?? pleeease help. If i reinstall / upgrade will all my programs and files remain unaffected ??? where is that choice??

Look in your event log in the system file for the error. The copy and paste the error into a search engine and you'll find your answer

hey master MCSA, unfortunately i cannot even get into windows, its not starting up.. so cannot get into the event log. thanks.

When I added new sdram, it also said the samething.

The files explore.exe and svchost32.exe within WINNT\system32\STDE9.exe are infected with Trojan viruses. I have not suceeded in using Norton Anti-virus to get rid of the viruses. Any advice on what to do?
