Comment:

I seem to get the following program error:

"WinMgmt.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program.

An error log is beeing created."

It seems to appear randomly. According to Windows Task Manager, the process is never terminated.
The logs in WINNT/system32/wbem/logs have the following messages:

"WINMGMT terminating an existing copy was detected(Mon Nov 11 12:42:50 2002) :
Bailing out due to Initilaization failure(Mon Nov 11 12:42:50 2002) : core is being shut down by WinMgmt.exe, it returned 0x0(Mon Nov 11 12:45:53 2002) : core is being shut down by WinMgmt.exe, it returned 0x0"

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

I had this exact same error message last year. Type this at a command prompt
"winmgmt /clearadap" without the quotation marks. I have no idea what it was, but that command line stops it from happenning again. Hope it works for you too.

I got this error message at bootup immediately after installing new RAM. Toward the end of the bootup, I got a blue screen of death error message. Two subsequent attempts yielded different blue screen of death error messages, though not the WinMgmt.exe error message. I removed the new RAM and the system returned to normal. I'm now trying to figure out what went wrong.
