I always get this error in Event Viewer:
WMI ADAP was unable to load the perfproc.dll performance library due to an unknown problem within the library: 0x0
any ideas ?

No, I have no idears
Searching event errors in res kit I am told
something of Apple talk and NDIS and more...
event errors nr 37 - 42 and 43.
The only thing I know is that McAfee causes troubles with it's Netshield, but I think it will be corrected in the next upgrade.
Anyway, antivirus software (McAfee and Norton causes IRP stack error - this error can be corrected by changing the stack value from 0x8 to 0x11.
I have plenty of such errors but w2k in the UK version runs smoothly. My mainpc runs w2k in the danish version and the eventlog consists mainly of information about actions and services started and stoppped....
I can't explain all this, but a friend told me not to pay attention to it too much, it is only stuff for programmers and MS staff!!
But it is irritating to see, when you want an errorfree pc.

yes, event errors nr 37 - 42 and 43
also this:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Perflib
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1015
Date: 12/05/2000
Time: 09:58:47 p.m.
User: N/A
Computer: TOWER
Description:
The timeout waiting for the performance data collection function "PerfProc" in the "C:\WINNT\system32\perfproc.dll" Library to finish has expired. There may be a problem with this extensible counter or the service it is collecting data from or the system may have been very busy when this call was attempted.and this:
WMI ADAP was unable to create object Win32_PerfRawData_McShield_NetShield for Performance Library McShield because no value was found for property index 3019 in the 009 subkey
McAfee Netshield, hmmm
in both Win2k Server and Win2k Professional
nothing in Technet and MS Knowledgebase web site about this
English version of win2k Server and Pro
local MS representative also told me to not pay "too much" attention not to say he doesn't know what it means :/
and when the Event Type is "Error" u care, no?

Hello I have similar problem, Technet said you can try this .
To resolve this issue, run the following command on the computer to dredge the status data again
winmgmt /clearadap
or
winmgmt /resyncperf -p processIDwhere processID is the processID of the running WINMGMT process.
Unfortnuately for me it has not work :-(
and this make my boot very slow while I logon to my machine.
But you maybe more lucky.
See MS article
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q255/6/29.ASP?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0

I was looking for a solution to the same problem and came across this:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/chats/trans/w2wmi16.asp
Where the user says:
rob:
Has anyone seen this error in the Application Log?: "WMI ADAP was unable to load the perfproc.dll performance library due to an unknown problem within the library: 0x0" Could you explain this error and point to a fix if necessary?
nadir:
WMI exposes perf counter info. To do this it loads all perf libraries at startup to determine perf counter support. This error will occur if there is a problem loading a perf library. There is a known issue with old versions of WMI. So, this sounds like a machine that may have been upgraded from a previous version of WMI. I believe running:
Winmgmt /clearadap
AND THEN (Emphasis mine!)
Winmgmt /resyncperf -p
should clear this up.
I wonder if the "AND THEN" rather than the "OR" makes a difference?

Hi there..
I also get this error message with the first one about the perf dll thingee..
WMI ADAP was unable to load the winspool.drv performance library due to an unknown problem within the library: 0x0
Any Ideas
