Comment:

I recently installed windvd 6 platnium. It installs Intervideo along with the player. For some other reasons, it played dvds all chopy and out of sync. So i uninstalled it and installed HeroDVD and that works great.

However the problem is this: When you put a dvd in the drive, the icon in My Computer for the drive is the blue triangle the the "I" in the center, the intervideo logo. When you click on it the installer for intervideo comes up. I used the uninstaller, edited the registry, and delted the program folder.

when else can i do to get rid of intervideo, and make herodvd the default. no matter what i try intervideo is there. does anyone know a true complete uninstaller method.

thanks again take care.

the problems is not your computer, if you look on the DVD box (assuming its legitimate) its probbaly got a PC interactive feature or something thats made by intervideo and browse the DVD and will find an autorun.inf file containing a link to an Intervideo Icon file, it shouldnt do it on all the dvd's.

that install screen is anoying though. do you know of a way to manually force a program to open as the default player to avoid this intervideo install window? just a long shot.

i know of one, if you go to www.slysoft.com

download anydvd, and install it, there is an option in its settings to disable autostart and to change the region if you wish. 30day trial so give it a go. if not i would reccommend getting Cyberlink PowerDVD, its a much better player versio n4 onwards and set that to autostart and it should stop intervideo starting up.

no problem, glad to help and see not everybody is upgrading to win xp :)
