Hello,
I have installed Win2K Prof. edn. and there after tried to install Oracle 8i Enterprise edn. 8.1.6 for WinNT/2000. Unfortunately, when I click on "install product" from the main screen of Oracle 8i installer, nothing happens. I am using P4 1.5, 256 MB ram machine. Looking forward help....

Actually it is a problem with Pentium 4 machines and not Win2K. I spent days figuring this out, but there is a bug in the Universal Installer. The work around is to 1) Create a temporary folder on the pc
2)Copty the contents of the Oracle CD to the folder in step 1.
3) Search the folder for a a filename symcjit.dll
4) Rename each copy of symcjit.dll to symcjit.old
5) Run the setup.exe form the \install\win32 directory and install Oracle 8.1.x
**Make sure you don't already have a jre installed, if you do you also need to rename the symcjit.dll as well.
