Hey, I was using my computer this afternoon and when I reset it after some programs didn't work, Windows won't load. At the black screen where it says "Starting Windows" or something like that, the comp freezes. I tried booting in Safe mode, but it gets stuck at :
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows\system32\config\system.I'm guessing that my system folder is missing or has corrupt files in it because I can't boot my computer using the "Last known good configuration" boot. I haven't done anything unusual with my computer this afternoon, so I don't know how my computer got corrupted. My first clue that something was wrong was when AVG stopped working and Excel wouldn't start. The only problems in the past few days is that if I had an active program running, my computer wouldn't go into hibernate mode. Do I need to use my Windows 2000 disk to boot or is it something else? Thanks in advance

Try to boot from win2k disk and run repair.Hope it will help you. If you have critical data on hdd make sure that you have backup of files.I did never lost files during repair proces but........

or you can try to load 2k with boot disk that has copy on it and go to (C,D,E) or what ever the drive letter 2k is loaded onto lets say the drive is X, so type
copy (X):/windows/repair/system(X):/windows/system32/config
and then see if that works. I had to do this when my sys messed up

Alright, I got my computer back up again, but my hard drive has a lot of lost data. Its almost as if its a new hard drive. How can I recover my lost data?

I got my computer up and running again, but my hard drive says thats its only an 80 gbs when it used to be 200gb. How can I get back the missing space?
