Windows media Player too fast

Hello, i've problems playing video files on my PC, windows 2000 Pro, 1.6 Ghz, 'cause they go too fast and i don't know how set it properly to play the files in the right way. Is there anybody who knows how to help me???

As aslways, make sure you have the latest and grreatest drivers for your video and sound cards, but it may be that your codecs are hosed. I would recommend downloading a bunch of the new codecs and installing them. That's often the problem, especially *.avi files, becuase they use a bunch of different codecs, such as the angelpotion code and DivX. You can pick up a bunc of codecs all over the net at

This is the main divx site, but i'm pretty sure they have the angelpotion codec too. Hope this helps.

I've been having the same problem with my new PC, see specs at bottom.
After much searching I have found that the problem lies with the sound decoding. To fix it go to CONTROL PANEL->MULTIMEDIA and under playback click Advanced Settings and remove all acceleration. This seems to solve it.
