This is always a dream question for everyone. Its real easy to sort your problem out.

You may have lost all your data, but i doubt it, but be prepared to lose it.
You can buy another hard drive, and install windows 2000 on the new hard drive, and have thee affected one as a slave. Or put this hard drive in another computer with windows 2000 to recover all the data you want from it. But if you don't to do this, you don't mind losing all the data, or don't mind taking the risk of losing all the data, then proceed as follows

Take the windows 2000 Cd to a friends computer, together with four blank diskettes
Locate the subfolder bootdisk, and click on makebt32 from windows or makebt from DOS. Follow the on screen instructions.

If your computer has a bootable CD-Rom drive, or even if it hasn't, put the bootable device CD-ROM or windows 2000 floppy diskette 1 in the boot device and follow the on-screen instructions.
If this doesn't boot, you will need to go into the BIOS to change the boot priority to A or CD-ROM. Then restart and try again.
Try to do a repair, even though you haven't go the repair disk. Do not use the recovery console method, unless you know how. Do not allow formatting of the hard drive, unless you are 100% sure you don't mind losing everything. Be sure. because most files aren't affected by viruses. You might like to get yourself a spanking brand new antivirus program, make some read-only floppy disks to scan your system for the BIOS and boot sector type viruses before you install windows. You need to speak to someone who sells you the program.

Your copy of Windows got corrupted. The only solution is to reformat the HDD then reinstall Windows.

Thank you for your time. I was able to hook up my old "drive" to another computer and use the old "drive" as a slave. The master drive has xp and i was able to check my "drive" for virus and found a couple of trojans that were deleted but when i try to hook up my drive to the old computer it still keeps restarting
