Windows Installer problem

I reinstalled windows 2000 and since then "Windows Installer" comes up every time I launch an application, with the following message: "Insert MGI VideoWave 4 disk". The problem is I no longer have this MGI program. When trying to uninstall it I'm prompted for the MGI VideoWave 4 disk. I tried this in safe mode and got the same thing. Does anyone know how I could get rid of the "Windows Installer" pop-up from coming up every time I launch an application?

in Run,type:regedit and press OK.In the regedit window, open Edit/Find and type MGI Video Wave 4.Press Find Next.Delete all lines you find by right clicking the found text.Press F3 to go to the next line until you have gone through all the lines in the registry.Reboot.Good luck.
An easier and more effective way to fix this problem is to download Microsoft's Windows Installer Clean Up Utility. This program can delete all of the Windows Installer data for programs that you no longer use. Go to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301 to get the utility.
