Hi,

I have just bought a new motherboard (MSI K7TPro RU) and I am trying to do a clean W2k installation. The problem is that My Plextor Scsi cdrom drives are not registered in the bios (there is no option in the bios to boot from the cd rom drive) I have a Symbios scsi card.
This was never a problem with my old Abit BE6 rev2 mobo.....but it sadly died on me a week ago. I have also tried to use my old IDE cdrom drive but that also does not show up in the bios when I connect it. I have made a win98 bootup disk with the Symbios scsi drivers on it but when I type "setup" it says that the program will not run under DOS.
Anyone know what to try next? There is probably something that I am forgetting.
Please help.....

you have a good board but sounds like you got a out of date bios go to the msi site they have a great bios update program that will scan your bios and up date it automaticly and all your firmware drivers for the board then your periphialls will work i have a k7pro with 950 athalon that what i had to do with it, see what version bios it has the newest is 3.02 the old one is 1.0. and w2k will not boot from a dos boot disc. its a lot of work but i would make a duel boot if you have games and old programs w2k is a very fussy o/s put 98 on first up date your mobo then you will be able to see your cd rom then you can boot from it to put w2k on
