I keep getting this message that says:

"Windows File Protection:

"Files that are required for Windows to run properly have been replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the original versions of these files.

"Insert your Windows 2000 CD now."

Its not like i can just comply and it will fix itself and never bother me again like a good computer, because i can't.

Any ideas? (Please, It really annoying!)

Did you try entering the CD?
Try booting the cd into recovery mode and restore the system files. Also press F8 when booting machine and try booting to Last Known good configurtaion.

I'm sorry I didn't make this clear; I can't just comply... I can't just put the CD in the drive. It won't work, it just sends me an error message.

I tried to do the rest of what you said like booting the last known good config. And I tried restore.

My friend said he had the same problem back long ago and forgot how he fixed it. But the point is that he did, and this problem can be fixed, does anyone know how to fix it?

Go to a command prompt and type in "SFC /SCANNOW" without the quotes. Have your Win2K CD ready.

Hi Mmm9004, have you fixed the problem?

I have the same problem with WinXP. I don't have the Windows cd. Are there other alternatives ? Anyone ?
