I am running W2k Professional, I went to windows update to get the current versions of everything for this operating system. I downloaded the sp3 service pack and began the installation. Half way through it told me I was missing a file that it needed to correctly install the update and if I wanted to continue, I clicked no and it said that nothing had been installed. Well, NOW I get an error message that says "Windows File Protection" insert SP3 disk and something about unknown files. What do I do to get rid of this annoying pop-up and how do I disable file protection all together? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Howard.. Its better you dont disable WFP feature of win2k.it keeps checking all system files when it finds any damaged system files it tries to replace. Better you take a Dump of windows file on your sustem and changeinstallation pathe from registry..

Hi Howard,
Here is a soution. Just go to the command prompt and type in sfc/scanonce.
Then message comes up saying that all files will be checked in the next boot. Then simply restart the Pc. Let the PC do all the scanning of the Files. It may take up to 10 minutes. Do not interrupt in between. Once it is over, login to Windows and u won't be receiving any message of WFP.

If u face any problem, pls be free to contact me at my email.
