Hello, Several computers in are organization that are running W2K have been getting a windows file protection error on boot up. When the cd is inserted to replace original files it won't accept it. You can cancel this screen and load windows normally, but once in there you can no longer access windows update and get more than usual certificate verification screens when accessing secured sites. Windows update page mentions that the computer is missing the proper certicates and points towards a microsoft knowledge base article on how to correct it. I followed the steps and imported the missing certificates, but to know avail. I did receive however a different message on the windows update site. It said that my time was wrong and to check its settings, but the time is correct and its synced with the server. I've scanned using various spyware programs and tried hi-jack this. We use EPO on are network and all the computers have the lastest dat files. This problem occured on these computers all around the same, which to me indicates some sort of virus or spyware. I've also tried running the sfc /scannow command and see if it would overwrite the unstable files manually but I get and error stating the the rpc server is unavailble, but I checked the services and it appears to be running fine, I restarted it anyways with no change. The only solution so far is to reinstall, but more users call each day with this problem and this requires way to much overhead. I'm up against a wall with this and would totally appreciate any suggestions you guys may have. Thanks
