Hi,

I am using 2000 server on my P4, intel 845wd motherboard, nivida AGP 32MB, 128 RAM and 10GB h/d. recently i installed some s/w's (older) and now the OS is showing an error message called windows file protection. It is asking me the 2000 CD to insert into cd drive. When i did this it is working fine but no updation of files takes place.. and when i remove the cd it is again showing the message continuosly even i cancel that message.
what should i do now...
please help me..
this 2000 server was installed on a 2GB partition with 350MB free space as of now..any problem?

ThanX

It would be useful to know *when* exactly the message pops up. Which process, application, or action causes this to appear?

Have you tried to de-install the software that appears to have caused this problem, to see if the problem goes away? Is there a newer version of the software available? Or a patch for Windows 2000 (Server)? It might be an idea to check Event Viewer for errors, or if anything suspicious is being loaded at startup (i don't just mean in the startup folder on your start menu).

350MB doesn't sound like much free space, but then again it might be enough for your needs. It doesn't seem like this could cause such a strange problem though.

check out your event viewer (system) and you will see some hints as to what is needed.
