Hi Nic
Try this... 1. Go to Task Manager 2. On the File menu, click New Task (Run) 3. Type CMD.exe 4. Rename the Shdocvw.dll file by typing REN shdocvw.dll shdocvw.old 5. Reboot
Good luck!

The file lives in C:\WINNT\System32
It is responsible for both Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer...so that's why you can't run either program!
Maybe you will be able to download it.

What version of IE do you have ? The version of SHDOCVW.DLL you need is dependant on your version of IE.
If you have IE6 SP1, then I can email the file if you'd like.

I just had a thought! When you were in the CMD window, what prompt were you at ? Try it again, and after the CMD window opens, type CD WINNT\SYSTEM32 then at the new prompt, try renaming SHDOCVW.DLL

Ooops...typo Make that CD\WINNT\SYSTEM32
Also, when you are the system32 prompt type DIR SHDOCVW.DLL and this will tell you whether or not the file exists in the folder
