Issue: the Windows Explorer application locks up when ever I click on My Computer and try to navigate or perform a file operation. The file system is intact. I can navigate and do file operations using the open/save dialog boxes from apps such as Word or Excel. And I can navigate and do file operations from the Command Line. It is only Windows Explorer that the explorer application hangs
Details: Win2k Pro with SP2 vrs 5.00.2195. All Patches/SP's as recommended by Windows Updater have been applied.
System; Celeron 633 on ASUS CUV4x System board with IBM IDE HDD.What I tried already:
* From Device Manager I updated the Bus Baster IDE controller and Primary IDE channel drivers to the latest from Microsoft. Didnt help.Anything else for me to consider would be appreciated.

Did your problem start immediately after you updated to Win 2K, or did it start "by magic" later on?
Reason for the question, one of my machines is also a Celeron, and I had the same problem after installing one of the many patches for Win 2k. Unfortunately, I do not know which patch created the problem , since I install them in bulk (download as many as possible together). It also crated a problem where I could not see any H/D properties or open the sharing tab. Something got corrupted while installing multiple patches, but I honetly don't know what got corrupted.
Solution (at least for me), I used the ERD, and then downloaded again all SP's and patches, and all is well with that machine. That happened about 8 months ago, and it hasn't happened again, thankfully!!! (LOL )
Good luck!
