Anybody know why my windows 2000 explorer crashes - esp when i close it.. the whole desktop just restarts and kills all other explorer windows after the desktop is refreshed ?

Several guesses--you need to upgrade your BIOS, you have hardware that is not on the HCL, your installation is corrupt and you need to reinstall, or you loaded something like AOL 5.0 than overwrote a DLL or installed a vxd file or something similiar that is causing the crash.

I had a simliar problem. Windows 2k would crash when I would attempt to FIND a file. Reinstalling it fixed it....
Now, I find Win2k is very very stable...

Hi..
After I installed i.e. 5.5 sp1, explorer windows (my computer, folders or i.e windows) have started to hang abut 20 sec. on each start. There is an "UNKONOWN ZONE" message at right bottom of explorer window and hangs 20 sec.
