i tried it on win 98 awhile back as i was curious.. did not have problems with it and it caused no problems but it does change/modify some key components of the windows core.as with any program that changes core files you must use with caution. but as for me it worked ok

If you dont like to having problem such as BSOD, or weird other problems, I strongly suggest you not to touch crapy and uncommon apps. WindowsBlind is just a program to change the usual GUI of windows into like Linux (KDE, Gnome) or just beutify it. It does change some core registry of Windows (as mentioned by James). If you wanna your windows like Linux, why dont you just partition ur HD and install Linux. You can learn the new OS and its power (it's FREE too) rather than just change the GUI and spend $$$. It will bring u pains and trouble in the furure and you have to clean-install ur OS.
If you like me, who like test drive softwares and know what you do to ur computer and ready to format-reinstall OS, just go on.

If you want the complete Linux feeling you need to install it and you can if you go to your local computer store and buy a disturbution of linux. It should come with a non distructive partitioner (like Partition Magic) and a Boot Manager (like System Commander). The rest is easy just setup the OS by inserting the CD and boot off it. And if it doesn't come with a boot manager when you insert the CD in Windows than in the setup it will find your version of Windows.
