Comment:

I aquired a laptop from a company that went out of business. It has W2k Pro and is set up as a "domain". I have been trying to get it off of a domain unsucessfully. If I go into the Network ID page and attempt to change or set up a workgroup it just hangs for a few minutes and never advance to the next option. Now it will not access the internet as if it is locked out. If I load in safe mode I can get out to the net with no problem.
Makes me think that there is a some security setting that may be screwy.

Thanks for any help...

do you have the drivers for your network card on your harddisk or a cd/floppy?
if so, just uninstall your network card and all network sttings wil be removed. Reinstall the network card and you can choose the setup you want (domain or workgroup)
