I would like to know what exact file does Win 2000/XP load for the Error-checking program that is found under right clicking a hard drive, selecting Properties, clicking on the Tools tab and clicking on the Check Now button under Error-checking (Check Disk). I know about the chkdsk file for the command line version of check disk, but I would like to know where the file is for the GUI version of Check Disk.

Wow. That's a tough one. I've been looking for two days now and can't find a good answer either. I'm thinking that GUI window that pops up is just magically incorporated into Windows kinda like when the 'confirm file delete' window pops up when you try to empty the recycle bin. Some of the data is mostly likely contained within a DLL file somewhere that you'll never find unless you're a 12 year old Chinese hacker and then the rest comes from nice buried registry settings about 14 sub-layers deep. As far as I can tell, it is just running plain old chkdsk, just disguised with pretty 'ohhh ahhh' graphics and progress bars.
