what does this mean?
the following file is missing or corrupt. please reinstall.
windows 2000>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
and then i get a blue and white screen saying IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
It reboots on its own often... and that's when I get the errors.

Ah, it just rebooted just now for the 3rd time in 15 minutes.

ntoskrnl.exe is the main file that loads win2k and must have become corrupted. Use your win2k cd to repair the installation.

Often the ntoskrnl.exe missing or corrupt actually means the boot.ini file is corrupt. Try reinstalling the boot.ini (from another similar machine if possible) through recovery console. This worked for me.
