Specs: windows 2k pro, not sure
Long story short, the boot.ini file was altered slightly and now windows wont boot up. gives an error message. I can put in the Win 98 SE boot disk and get a dos prompt but I dont know where to go from there. Thanks in advance for any help you can suggest.

use your 98 boot disk and get to the command prompt, type [edit c:\boot.ini]
if it is not in the C: try finding it elsewhere
it should look something like this

[boot loader]
Default= scsi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\winnt

[operating systems]
scsi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\winnt="Windows NT"

hope it works
