Windows 2000 upgrade fatal error

Hi all,
when trying to upgrade from Win98 to Win2000, after putting product key, I get following fatal error: 'Cannot continue. Contact your MS technician'.

Might have something to do with a language locale setting. Seems odd but I had a similar error when upgrading from 98 to Win2K. Perhaps a long shot but it did the trick in my case see links
