I just updated my computer from Windows 98 to Windows 2000 (I formatted my hard drive and installed Windows 2000 clean). There are a lot of conflicting programs and I was wondering if anyone could help me… I cannot install my Creative SoundBlaster AWE64 software that I got on CD because it comes up with a error saying “AUDIO DRIVERS HAVE NOT BEEN INSTALLED”, when they have and the sound works. I also got a Creative GamePad II and cannot install the software because it is made for Windows 95. My Hewlett Packard software for my Hewlett Packard DeskJet 692C doesn’t work also. Can anyone help me with these problems?

I ran the install program for Windows 2000 and it gave me an "upgrade report" to tell me about any possible hardware and software conflits as a result of installing 2000. Did you get those warnins also? I decided not to install till I find update software to make all my current hardware and software work. If you can, I suggest putting 98 back on your machine and then finding all the necessary upgrades to make your current progs work. Seems odd to m that a newer operating system would not allow older software and hardware to work.
Good luck

I the first time I ran the windows 2000 install it did give me a report on incompatible software and hardware. I downloaded NT versions of the software thinking this would solve the problems, I was about the face. Then I formatted my harddrive (had pervious problems) installed windows 98, then straight away installed windows 2000 without installing any programs pire. Once everything was up I tried to install the NT software and it didn't work... I don't know why microsoft always have to change everything... MONEY MONEY MONEY! That's all they think about, and its going to be a lot of hasle to the people that don't have the net and upgrade to Windows 2000 when the final release it out, in Feburary...

thats why you should of kept 98
on aswell
until u knew win2k worked for
uof course there arn't all the drivers yet
it still hasn't been released
try thinking

Don't run the setup in Windows 98....
Run /i386/WINNT.exe from dos
to bypass the stupid report......

I used Adaptec Easy CD Creator, InstantCD by Novastor and Ahead Nuro Burn 4.00 in WinNT4.0 but all these are now gurbage since I have installed MSWin2000Pro! Now I cant find any such CD-RW softare for Win2000pro. Can any one help?
