I have a Windows 2000 domain with approx 3000 users and when I try to find a user to change their disk quota. It takes a long time to bring up the username and sometimes it gives a msg "account information unavailable". Does anybody know of a way to do this by using the SID. Please Can anybody help
Can't help you with the "account information unavailable" thing, but some advice about the delay...look at the account number you want to take a peek at and that should be a clear indicator as to why there is a considerable delay. 3000 users or so, and you think this will be done in a snap? Sorry, no chance :) Patience is the key to successful administration...

the SID is often a long number x 3000 makes it even worse i suppose. not the good way to do the job imho. there are getSID utilities but try another way (is ther no userlist of the 3000 ??)
