Comment:

Installed Windows 2000 Server on a Dell GX1 w 256mb of ram, and after the first reboot for setup the pc hangs at the windows splash screen. I can't get into safe mode or boot in debug. Not sure what other boot options I can try right out of setup. This pc ran Windows 2000 prof before the clean install. No new hardware added. Anyone else run across this issue?

i had a problem similar but different, but i never buy pre-built pC,s coz they are always too old for me
anyway i had some round IDE leads in my comp and after installing windows i used to get a blue screen saying cannot load device drivers, reset tried this a few times differant errors same blue screen, so i changed the IDE lead back to the standard one and it worked fine weird
if you have round IDE leads change em for normal ones
also some pre-built PCs wont let you put anything else on them other than what came with it at the factory, i found this out the hard way
final though: never ever buy a pre-built PC coz ya get ripped off
cheers
