Hi all,

I thought this is the right forum to help me.
I am posting this message with the hope that i will find the solution and be able to solve the problem. I am trying to install Windows 2000 PROF which i have a hard disk with 2 partitions one with FAT32 and one with NTFS. The FAT32 partion(Which has been assigned the drive C:) has some important data which i dont want to loose at any cost. The model of computer i have is Compaq Deskpro. When i ever i try to install OS or make a new partition it will create the partition as D: and copies the Win 2k OS files to D:. And when i reboot the system to complete the installation it will stop loading OS as it is booting from C: which does not have any OS.

Can any one of you suggest the solution/softwares for the problem.

Awaiting for your reply.
Very thanks in advance,

Regards,
JK.

hey hi there

well, by default, the OS that u want to boot to is always given the C:

anyways, now that u got some data on C: (FAT32) and the OS is on D: (NTFS), what i could tell u is boot with the bootable WIN2k CD and say REPAIR and choose to do ALL TASKS
u'll have to choose the option of NO EMERGENCY disk

try it and let me know if it works on my email address

and yeah, make a backup of your data on CDs or another hard disk just to be on the safer side

Why don't you just copy your data over to another partition and format c for a new install?
