Windows 2000 not seeing lower level directories on DVD-ROM discs.
When trying to read DVD-ROM discs containing several hundred (thousand) files, eg ClipArt located about 4 or five levels deep in the directory structure are not seen by Windows 2000. In fact it refuses to see the contents of any directories below the second level, eg. T:\full\greenstreet is empty. This occurs with many DVD-ROMs. The same system read CDs perfectly. The same system when booted into Windows NT or Linux see all files on the same DVD-ROM. The problem appears to be solely with Windows 2000.
Just to confuse mattesr if I share the DVD drive with my old Winmdows 98 system then it is able to see deeper into the directory structure but not everything.
The hardware configuration is an Abit KR7A - non RAID M/B with 256MB RAM. The rest consists of Adaptec 29160 SCSI for 36GB disc, 8Gb Disc (for Linux), 2off CD-ROM/CD-R/CD-RW and DAT Tape. A second SCSI for scanner. A 30GB IDE disc on the Primary IDE and a Pioneer DVD-ROM on the Secondary IDE.
I had found an article on the MS Knowledge Base, Q28270, which appeared to describe a similar problem and this was due to be fixed in Service Pack 3. Its not!
My next option is to rebuild from scratch another W2k environemnt and find when the DVD stops working.
Any ideas will be welcome.
