I am going to upgrade my mothebroard and CPU once again. The last time I did, I was running Windows 98 SE, and Windows did not like what i had done to it, I had to reinstall Windows an a clean partition. Now I am running Windows 2000 Professional on an Abit KA7-100 with an Athlon 950. I am upgrading to an ECS K7VZA 1.4 Athlon. Will Windows 2000 Professional take the change better? Will I have to reinstall Windows? Any other suggestions? I heard is is good to boot into "safe" mode and remove all the system devices before I swap the motherboards. Should I do that as well? Thanks. Please email me.

clean installs are always better when switching out the motherboard especially if you are changing motherboard chipsets. You can get away without doing it but, at some point something will come up performance wise and you end up doing later anyway...

I tried to get around a complete reinstall as well when switching motherboards.
Nothing but a hassle.
Face the inevitable-back up your data, wipe your hard drive, and install cleanly.
