Comment: Hello, I installed windows 2000 server edition today, all went good. But when it fineshed it just booted and i saw a loading screen, then my pc turned in standby and while i take him out it says something about login with ctrl+alt+del and then a screen comes with preparing standby, and if i take hime out he does the same What is wrong?? Thanx

Reply: (edit)Possible workaround: Look in the BIOS. Maybe you can disable something there.

Reply: (edit)Whenever you run Windows Setup from scratch, you must load the mboard chipset drivers after Setup has finished in order for Windows to have the proper information about the mboard, which includes the proper info about the mboard Standby/ACPI support. Usually after you do that any problems you have with Standby or any ACPI features will go away. If you still have problems after that, usually Windows will eventually ( e.g. after maybe a half dozen times of Standby not working correctly, or more) detect your computer is having problems with Standby and ask you if you want to disable Standby - choose Yes.
