Subject: Windows 2000 Installation Error
Comment:

Hi, I was trying to upgrade my Windows 98 operating system to Windows 2000 pro. I got partially through the setup screen and needed to reboot for to continue the upgrade. When I turned my computer back on I got this error:

STOP:c000026c {Unable to load device driver}
\SystemRoot\System32\DRIVERS\uhcd.sys device driver could not be loaded
Error Status was 0xc0000221

I can't get past this error. Any suggestions or help would be grateful. Thanks,
Tom

i'm no expert and i dont know wot you have or havent tried,

you can try 2 things

win2000 is a bootable cd so make sure you boot with the cd in the driver... and hopefully you would get to choose wether you want o boot from the cd, from there format your comp and re-install

if you booting with the cd in the driver and thats not working.. try forcing the to boot in safe mode(i dont know if you will have those files installed already but its worth a try).. i think you can do that by holding down the F3 key or somthing when its booting (you will have to check that command im not 100% sure).. then try and reinstall (formating the comp as you go. i have found it best to format when upgrading your OS i have had problems in the past with simply upgrading it...)

If none of that works you can always try formatting and reinstalling through DOS.... after that the last thing i can think of is useing the bios... i know every little about it so dont ask

soz... thats all i can think of hope it helps
