I cannot open the explorer in my windows 2000. Also I cannot open the control panel. But I can open MS-office, edit plus and other applications. When I am try to open folders in desktop the system prompt an alert box with the message "Cannot find file "%WINDOWS%\wmplayer.exe""

Hmm.. possible virus disabling the explorer???
Can you run the exlorer.exe from the task manager? Or can you even run the task manager?
How about safe mode?

Re-install Windows Media Player. Use the command line if necessary. If Windows Media Player becomes damaged or is not present, it can damage the Windows 2000 explorer if I recall correctly. This **should** fix the problem.
