Comment:

1) Quite difficult to install(problems with video card driver).
2)Slow to boot: 1mn and 13 s on my system.
3)Compatibility problems:
The following applications just will not install:
a) Diskeeper (Executivesoft defragmenter)
b) Adaptec DirectCD
The (unpleasant) solution is to keep an old version of Windows NT 4.0, on a separate partition in order to be able to run recent applications.
3) Big: about 650 Mbytes.
4) When it works it is stable (pretty much like NT 4.0, SP5, and pleasant to use.

Conclusion:
The only visible benefit at updating from NT4 is the USB support, but the price is quite unpleasant.

There are actually a lot more benefits that are not quite obvious. For hardware issues the first issue is that PNP actually works on Win2K.

Another issue is the hot swaping ability, including unplugging network connections and plugging them in after starting the machine.

Aaptec DirectCD that comes with Easy CD creator 4.0 will install.

The addition of a much better WSH environment and ADSI will help administrators.

The boot time was about the same for me, but the other benefits weighed to greatly for me to turn it down.

That is only a few things off the top of my head in 3 minutes, and thats also just my opinion.

Win2k rocks! I have installed several eval and non-eval versions and everything works as professed.

If you set up your server as Active Directory, will take longer to boot. Win2k isn't designed to be restarted very often in the first place.

ASPx, ASDI, and WSH support is better than ever. I could go on and on. Similiar posts about this were also posted today (Homepage above).

I moved up from WinNT4 SP5 to W2K about a year ago. A word from the wise...don't do an upgrade from WinNT4...do a clean install. The hardware drivers used in WinNT4 are TOTALLY incompatible with W2K. Otherwise, W2K is far superior to WinNT. One last thing...256MB RAM should be considered a minimum. When I upgraded my wife's computer from 128MB to 256MB, the bootup time dropped a huge amount...

I agree. W2K was the best thing that ever happened to my computer. It is fast and reliable. I don't have to restart it every couple of hours like I didi with 98. Although there are a few software incompatabilities, these are minor compared to teh bennefits of the OS. Just run the windows update utility whenever there is a new update and you will be fine. Oh and the Direct CD from Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4.0 "DELUXE" is the one that will install. But Nero tends to work better anyway. Steve is right about the memory. You can install with 64, but you can't run anything. 128 as a bare minimum. Personally I have 512 on mine. But I like to over-do things a bit also.
