Hello All,
Installed windows 2000 and I cannot get my 3com 3c905TX NIC to work. Device Manager states error code 31, that the NIC cannot load the appropriate device driver because the device depends on another device that is not working correctly. All other hardware devices, however, show as having NO conflicts and are working properly. When I go to load the device driver for the NIC the system freezes. Now what?? My hardware profile is the following:
Tyan Trinity Main Board
AMD 459Mhz processor
Matrox Mystique Video PCI
Creative Sound Blaster 16 PCI
3Com 3c905TX PCIAny suggestions on how I can begin to resolve this. I have also tried two other NICs, a NetGear FA310 and an Asound. This did not solve the problem
Thanks for your input.

Although they make great products, 3com NIC's can be tricky to install. Unfortunately, once they install incorrectly, they need some fancy footwork to COMPLETELY uninstall them. Some 3com NIC's even require the drivers to be installed BEFORE PHYSICALLY installing the card in a PCI slot.
You may have to 'completely' uninstall the card, i.e. physically remove the card, uninstall the software driver AND remove all driver references from the registry. The first two are a cakewalk; the third is only good if you're not squeamish - registry editing mistakes can turn a previously-usable PC into a door stop - or you've edited the registry before.
Email me and we'll put our heads together.
