A development box with Windows 2000 Server keeps shutting down every few days and needs to be restarted. The only thing I can find in the event logs is the recorded dirty shutdown. The only changes that have been applied to the machine recently was one of our system admins applied Service Pack 3 recently. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Again I say, pound for pound SP3 sucks. One out of 25 people actually have it working right. Every second or third question has the punchline "...and I have SP3 installed...". Bad odds in MHO. I'd scrap SP3 if I were you.

What you can do is to uninstall SP3 from ADD/REMOVE icon in Control Panel. Try reboot the system and it will solve your problem.
