I need help in solving a problem with my Windows 2000 Advanced Server. I am a novice however, take directions well. For whatever reason, I am getting the following line when my box boots up, " The following file is missing or damaged...\WINNT\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEMced." How can I solve this problem and continue the boot process. I have tried the "r" option from the Win 2000 CD but it wants to erase my disks believing that my configuration has changed. I have touched nothing. HELP!!!! P.S. Of course I have sensitive docs that I had not got a chance to back-up yet. If I can somehow access the data ( 6 disks - striped ) I would not mind re-installing.
Its possible the file system is corrupt or the reported missing file is not the only file missing. i would be very carefull what you do as this type of event leads to loosing your data very easily. Try www.computer-recovery.com they deal with this type of problem, they can normally recover any important data that you may have.
same exact thing happend to me yesterday tried every thing installed win2000 again and dual boot so i can save my files if any better ideas would be appreaceated would like to not have to reinstall all programs good luck
