hi: i'm trying to activate teh ultraDma mode on my samsung cd-rw Sw-212B drive, but windows 2000 will not allow me to use anything other than pio mode. the drive worked a-ok in win98, and my harddrive still works in DMA mode in win2k. is this possibly a motherboard chipset driver problem?

Are you using the new 80 conductor Ultra DMA IDE cable? The old, reliable 40 conductor IDE cable will not allow your Ultra device to achieve the correct speeds. I had to go out and buy the new cable myself for a hard drive i recently purchase.
I hope you don't mind me ridin your coat tails. I'm needing info on cdrw useage and 2000 pro too. Would you consider forwarding links and info you might think would help. I lost my drag and drop functionality for my Phillips PCRW1208. 2000 pro doesn't want to recognize the cdrw. Can't format/can't drag and drop/definately confused...!
