Please help me!
After installing Win 2000 I can't find my CD drives. Something about Win 2000 only being able to handle 2 IDE units. Does anybody know a good solution? Any help would be appreciated

Win2K can definitely handle more than 2 IDE units. I have three installed and there's no problem. How are they connected, are they seen during the POST, what mobo and BIOS version and what are the optical drives involved ? phew..

I had the same problem with a Compaq Persario 7970. Win2k would not see second controller. I do not know if this do to the AMD chipset or what. But this is what I did and it has worked on several other machines. REMOVE THE RIBBIN CABLE TO THE SECOND CONTROLLER. Start Win2k. Let it boot fully. Shut down system, reattach the ribbin cable. Reboot. Most of the time this works on the first try. Once in a while you may have to set the Bios to default. I do not know why, I only know that after about a week of expermenting this is the result. Good Luck!
